Post debate Spin: 1. Edwards won. 2. Cheney scares me.
My first thought after the Edwards Cheney debate?
Insurance companies, drug companies and medical big business will pull out all the stops to prevent Edwards and Kerry from winning. A president that doesn't kowtow to corporate might and Wall Street scares the hell out of them. Even if they know that Bush is a disaster for the country with his massive deficit and unrestrained spending in Iraq. They will see short term pain and send buckets of money to 527s and other methods to smear Kerry and Edwards and prop up Bush/Cheney.
I expect to see attack ads and (something most won't see) PR firms that are fake fronts for the drug and insurance industry putting together last minute campaigns as well as lobbyists trying to pressure politicos in a multitude of ways.

Spocko,
I missed the debate last night (I'm the laziest blogger ever) but you've hit upon the reality on the east coast, where I've been for the last two weeks, and where those industries are centered. Every Republican out there is voting for Bush purely for economic reasons. They delude themselves so easily into believing that Bush is doing a great job in the war on Terror, but they couldn't find Saudi Arabia on a map of the Arabian Peninsula. My friend from H.S. who's voting for Bush because he's a drug sales temp at Merck, actually tried to argue that with me and ended up giving up after he tried to claim that France isn't a democracy. It's very easy to believe stupid shit when someone waves a dollar bill in your face.
