Crazy Conservative Christian stuff. Vs. Sane Secular stuff.

Pro-Life Conservative Values Wristband

This is just CREEPY.
Faith, Family, Fetus, Flag and a GUN? WTF? Is this just bizarre or what? What kind of twisted version of the bible are they reading? Jesus Christ died for my right to hate gays and carry a gun? Talk about Christians unclear on the concept. And is it just me or is that pro-life icon super creepy?

Now compare that to this nice little silicon band from this super nice woman who created these nice blue "Truth" bands. I corresponded with her when I spotted them. She was going crazy over the lies she kept hearing on the Right and thought that if people knew the Truth about them they would be repulsed. I agree and I try and spread truth, but some days it just seems harder than others.

Here is here copy from the website.
Truth! is Power

The Democratic blue TRUTH! Wristband is a symbol of strength and unity. Join others as we let the world know we don’t support the current administration’s policies and we are taking a stand for truth.
Bracelets are made of silicone with the word TRUTH! debossed into them. $3.00 each.

“During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.” George Orwell

Now go buy a couple. I don't wear wrist bands, but I found I can use these for other purposes. I'm going to use them to hold back my pants when I go biking to protest the oil wars. I'll use them to bundle things to my pack when I'm out walking around Star Fleet Academy. You would be supporting a real person not some soulless corporation or bizarre Christian "values" group.

Wow, that KKKristian wristband is freaky. Did you notice that they have the cross labeled as "faith," as if the faith represented by the cross is the only faith that matters? *sigh*

I won't do the wristband thing because first of all I'm not a joiner, and secondly, wearing something like that around my wrist would eat my skin for breakfast (seriously -- I can't wear a wristwatch because my skin like decays under the band; I must sweat acid or something), but those blue ones aren't bad.

I also noticed that. Oddly I heard Michael Savage the other day DEFENDING all other major religions. He was making a point about the radicals not the moderates in a relgion. I have to wonder. When Michael Savage is more tolerant than these radical right Christians then you KNOW you are in trouble.

I understand if you don't buy her blue wristbands, I don't either. But I had such a nice email correspondance with here bought a couple to use for other purpose and support her.

Where does it say these are christian wristbands? According to the the picture caption and the website these are "Six(6) Pro-Life Conservative Values Wristband". You might get a cafeteria catholic to wear one but I can't see a christian wearing one (except maybe the cross) a fetus?? What are these nutballs thinking?

Who knows who will buy those. It would be interesting to talk to a few folk who did buy it to find out what their background is.

By the way I'm doing some more research on your earlier question. Stay tuned.
Thanks for posting!

I also noticed that the gun icon is of the Sicilian Special - a sawed-off shotty. What a lovely weapon to identify your cause with.

The sad thing here is that they start with the Second Amendment. No mention of the first, I would note. And where does it say in the Bible that guns are a Christian value? I'm pretty sure I remember some stuff about Jesus not liking violence. And then they have wristbands with pictures of guns. Oh, the pathetic irony. How can they simultaneously support Jesus and guns?

Krazy Konservative Kristians respect only one commandment... "NO ADULTERY!" and one amendment... "GUNS!!". But remember that there are sane christians as well.

You are so right, but when you bring that up they go to "Well that one time he chased the money changers out of the temple." Sometimes they go to Paul but often to the OLD Testament.
I see this as a real failure of the Christian Leadership. They are really picking and choosing what parts of Jesus they want to follow. Jesus said some REALLY radical stuff (turn your cheek, love your neighbor)that supposedly superseed the OT. Unfortunately the fundies have a tradition where they do NOT endeavor to understand the context of the words or the people who wrote the bible, just the words. And the words were
1)remembered years after Christ died
2)Translated at least 2 or three times from different languages during different times from different cultures. Because Jesus was so great at using parables to teach, the stories have been able to be handed down, but if you also understood the context (like who the Samaritians were and their relationship to the people who were hearing the story) you could have an even more powerful message.

They have an ability to be an American when it suits them and a Fundie when it doesn't. The fundie church can stir them up on issues like Homosexuality and "baby life" while not addressing the issues of poverty, social justice and war.

Think about it. Would Jesus have gone on national TV (as Jerry Falwell did) and said about the terrorists "Blow 'em all away in the name of Me." I don't think so.

Why weren't the Christians strongly anti-war? Why weren't they marching in the streets with "Iraqi's children are innocent don't kill them Mr. Bush?"

Why? Because they have performed the Christian "math" and determined that Gay marriage, anti-abortion are more important than killing people in another country.
And there is no one in their fundie world who is saying, "Hey, maybe we should be against this war."

I'm so glad the majority of my Christian friends ARE Sane. In fact after I talk to them and see stuff like this I'm amazed at the disconnect between the Dobson folks and the Christian teachings that they get. Of course telling the Dobson folks that they are wrong won't help because they don't respect any authority except their own.

Thanks for posting! Stop by any time you are very welcome here.

spocko, it's even more radical than you say. Jesus didn't just say to love your neighbors; He said to love your enemies, to do good to those who persecute you. He said you would be judged by how you treated the poor, the sick, the prisoners, the homeless.

These so-called Christians are nothing of the sort, and I as a Christian am sick and tired of having them represent my religion.

Nora: Here here! Or is it Hear hear?

You bet. I was thinking about this the other day. No one (Jim Wallis excepted) is pointing out just how off Jesus' message some of these so called Christians are.

Did you read the Harpers Article "Soldier of Christ, Inside America's Most Powerful Megachurch by Jeff Sharlet? Or the accompanying article "Feeling the Hate with the National Religious Broadcasters" May 2005.

Really scary read. Lots of warrior images. The problem is you can't complain to any higher authority about their messed up views on Christ--they are the top of the heap.

I wonder what they say when you bring up the whole love your enemy passages? I'm guessing they go straight to the OT or Paul or passages in the NT inserted by the early church to make a point.

Thanks for stopping by and posting!

I don't think these hypochristians are interested in anything Jesus actually said.
They just worship the cross.

I am a Christion opposed to war. We need to get the Church to wake up to see that Jesus meant when he said "love your enemies." We don't tell people I love you! then shoot them. The problem is epidemic, I just saw David Barton of "Wallbuilders" on TV waving the Bible and displaying
"Minute Men Guns". It's going to be like it was trying to convince people the world was flat. But with God's guidance we can do it.

I found your website while trying to find a sight to purchase the very bracelet you are all knocking. I am a conservative Republican and I just could not help but wonder why you have such an issue with this braclet. Except for the Second Amendment which I can respect you not agreeing with, I have trouble seeing which of the other symbols you find so "right wing". Especially any of you who are Christians. If you find support of our country, families, Christianity and life, right wing, well then I guess I am right wing. By the way those of you who like to invoke Jesus' teachings on peace, and I will conceed the point that Christ is most likely not a supporter of the Second Amendment, but I am positive he was not Pro-Choice. Just a thought from one of those scary 62,040,606 people who voted for the President.

This is a comment to Anonymous. I agree that Jesus is pro-life. As a Christian, I am offended and ashamed by a lot of my fellow believers who are always pointing out the sins that others do like Abortion and Homosexuality. As if the are better than those people who do those things. It is the story of the Pharisee again.

Perhaps that is why people are upset about this bracelet.

Mr. Decuir,

I understand what you are saying, but I have always believed to hate the sin, not the sinner. Every Chirstian sins and we all need to remember that none of us is perfect. I still do like the wristband, not because it points out what others may disagree with, but becasue it has symbols on it that I believe in. I find it interesting that those who profess to cherrish the first amendment and say they respect diversity, have a problem with a wristband that celebrates someone else's beliefs.

Why aren't the Deomocrats held responsibile for their role in trying to stop the civil rights movement? They were also the party that wanted "States Rights" so they could continue to own slaves? And even more surprising is the number of KKK members in their ranks, some who've held very high positions.

Pro Choice COnservative Here !

I am a conservative, Republican - and I hate whiney liberals with a passion. I think that the democratic party has been taken over by raving lunatic liberals.

Howver - i am so sick and tired of the abortion issue. I want to make this clear to all my conservative ilk - a cluster of cells does not a life make. Im sick of this nonsense.

I do not know where the line of life is to be drawn, but I do know that a microscopic cluster of cells falls somehwere below it. Im not talking about late term abortion - thats crazy. I am talking about my republican bretheren, who are alays touting "who speaks for the baby...blah blah blah"

One more time --> A cluster of microscopic cells, does not a life make.

I just discovered these bracelets on Red State. Just finished ordering 10 Six-Packs to distibute at my church. Already know they are going to go fast. Don't understand what all the liberal whining over this is about. If you don't like the bracelet, shut up and get the TRUTH ( Now THATS just funny) POS instead.

Gee, that's swell. You go right ahead. I'm sure the pastor will pull you aside and say, "Um D.A. we really can't be having people wearing those bracelet in church, it makes us appear to hate gays. Which as we have said many times, we don't. And that gun on there? It really isn't in the spirit of Christ. Thanks for the idea, but maybe you could get set some bands with just a cross on them."

No he won't say that, because I'm guessing you don't go to a good Christian church. You probably go to one of those ones that ignore what Christ said and instead look to the Old Testament to find words to support your feelings of hate and fear of the other. But that is okay too. Maybe eventually you will come a bit closer reader of Christ's actual sayings (especially in historical context to understand what was attributed to Christ vs. what the words the early Church put into his mouth) and maybe even of Jefferson.

Good luck to you, I hold out hope that you will eventually be educated by a good person.

Don't understand what all the liberal whining over this is about. If you don't like the bracelet, shut up and get the TRUTH ( Now THATS just funny) POS instead.
And so you came here to whine about me "whining" instead of just shutting up and buying your own crazy bracelets. Right? Can you even see the logical contradiction in your words?
